Twins in America - White House
twins Natalie and Rita at the White House Easter Egg Roll
The White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States (currently the dad of twins as most visitors to the site likely know). Construction began in 1792, it was ready for occupancy in 1800, rebuilt in 1814 after being burned down in the War of 1812, and expanded, reconstructed and restored several times in the two centuries since.
There have been two U.S. Presidents with connections to twins, Andrew Jackson, who with his wife Rachel adopted a twin, Andrew Jackson, Jr., and George W. and Laura Bush, parents of twins Jenna and Barbara. For more history on the White House, the official site is a good place to start. There is also a kids version of that web page.
